SETXWeddings: What can you say was the inspiration for you deciding to provide wedding related services?
Amanda Schilling, AP Schilling Events:"While working in the hospitality industry, I found that I really enjoyed the catering and event planning side of the business, working directly with clients to make their meetings and events run smoothly. Eventually I decided that I would start my own event planning business to provide personalized planning and coordinating services not only to businesses and larger events, but to brides as well. These services are easier to come by in larger cities such as Dallas, Austin, and Houston, but in my research I found that there was not much to choose from in the Beaumont area so I decided to move back to Beaumont from Houston so that local brides in Southeast Texas could have access to great personal service for their big day as well". SETXWeddings: How long have you been in business? How did you get your training for what you do?
Amanda Schilling, AP Schilling Events: "I began AP Schilling Events in the summer of 2006. However, I have worked in the hospitality and event planning industry for the past seven years for companies such as Walt Disney World, Marriott, Hilton, Raddison, and the Moody Gardens Resort Hotel and Convention Center on Galveston Island. I graduated college from Texas A&M University with a degree in Tourism Marketing and Management which provided training in the areas of tourism, hospitality, and customer relations. I am also a member of the Texas Association of Festivals and Events (TAF&E) and the International Festival and Events Association (IFEA). I have received event training through both organizations over the past two years as well as being enrolled in the Texas Event Leadership Program (TELP) and attending an Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) training seminar". |
