Southeast Texas Wedding Ideas – Affordable Gift Idea of the Week

Southeast Texas Wedding Ideas – Share today’s affordable wedding gift idea of the week!

SETXweddings.com is continuing to follow a trend in which our Southeast Texas brides are trying to ensure they have registry items that are appropriate for those who are cash strapped in this down economy.

We’re introducing an “Affordable Gift Idea of the Week” while the trend continues.

This week’s idea is… magazine subscriptions tailored to you and your fiancée.

Magazines are ideal for newlyweds- you can keep up on topics you’re passionate about in small, digestible doses while you’re building your new life. After all, ideally you won’t be hopping into bed to read long novels for the first few years anyway!

Learn ways to create a happy home, get good ideas for decorating, tips for cooking and much more that help ease the learning curve during the first year of marriage.

After you’ve enjoyed your current issue consider passing them on to a friend or donating them to your local library or nursing home.
Some great suggestions are Cooking Light, Food and Wine, Food Network, Taste of Home, House Beautiful, Better Homes and Gardens, Country Living, Southern Living, and Good Housekeeping.

These are pretty tame titles (but also very popular!). Your magazines should reflect YOU. If there are magazines that mean more to you, put them on the list. If you’re an Inked or Guns and Ammo girl, you’ve got to be you!

There are lots of great titles for men. After all, now that he’s got you, he won’t need Maxim anymore. The following are highly recommended:

Fur Fish and Game: Hands down the best magazine in the nation for the average Joe who likes to hunt and fish. Instead of telling you Looking for a gift for your SETX groom?about hunting Kudu in Kenya they have articles on catfish, rabbits, and squirrels.

Texas Monthly. If you can find articles between the ads, they’re generally very good restaurants. Lots of information on Texas politics, scandals, news makers, and restaurants/food.

Texas Highways. Great title for planning “mini-honeymoons” after your official honeymoon. Lots of planning tips for day trips and overnight road trips in Texas.

Grilling Magazines. Set the boundaries early in your marriage. You have no intention of cooking every night do you? Let him know NOW.

ESPN The Magazine. Less dry than Sports Illustrated with lots of big glossy photos. ESPN analysts on TV are funny and that comes through in the magazine as well.

Texas Fish & Game. As the name implies, each month has articles on both hunting and fishing, so that’s nice for the well rounded outdoorsman. The unique feature of the magazine is that there are different editions for the different regions of Texas. Our edition is the Coastal Edition which has more articles on saltwater fishing- redfish, specks, flounder, and offshore species. If you know your fiancée makes a lot of trips to Central or West Texas, you can order the appropriate edition.

Men’s Fitness. Hey, you don’t want him to get out of shape after the wedding do you?

Magazines are great for coffee tables, bedside tables, or “the office” reading material.

Magazines also let visitors to your home know a little about you. They are like a window into your inner likes, dreams, and interests.
Those looking to really save can order a subscription online and get a great deal.

After you’ve enjoyed your current issue consider giving them to someone else, donating them to your local library, or nursing home (ALL local Southeast Texas nursing homes would greatly benefit from donations of books and magazines).
Everyone likes a good magazine.
